A3 Colour Laser Printers compared to A3 Monochrome Laser Printers

The joy of color printing does comes at a cost...

When comparing colour and monochrome laser printers, pros and cons follow a similar pattern found in printers of any competing technology e.g. inkjets. Colour printers are more complex in design and use additional consumables when compared to monochrome printers. As a result, colour laser printers tend to be:

•  More expensive to buy and run - usually at least twice the cost.
Check out the following links for tips and ideas to help reduce the cost of buying and running a laser printer:

•  Slower at printing. This varies considerably between makes/models and in some cases it takes twice as long to print an equivalent document.
Is there any way to increase print speed?
For both colour and monochrome laser printers: try reducing the print quality setting from High → Medium → Low
Colour printers: remember they have the ability to print faster in monochrome mode.

•  More bulky, heavier and with a larger footprint.
